Synopsis

The objective of this research was to optimize the prototype suit used for instructing the application of techniques involving the tonfa-type police baton. This optimization was achieved through the incorporation of parameters that measure impact force. This effort is an integral part of an emerging pedagogical proposal aimed at enhancing the understanding and proper application of force within the realm of police services. To accomplish this goal, a research methodology with a technological focus was employed, operating at the level of proposing innovative solutions. Simultaneously, data collection was conducted using a survey instrument, yielding quantitative data essential for analyzing and identifying the instructional needs related to teaching techniques involving the tonfa police baton. The outcome of this research is a purpose-built instructional suit that offers enhanced functionality. It facilitates the assessment of the force applied during strikes and impacts with the tonfa baton, allowing for a precise determination of the strength employed while using force in police operations. This technological innovation carries significant pedagogical implications for police training. It empowers both instructors and students to compare theoretical principles outlined in national and international laws concerning the use of force with their practical implementation in real-life scenarios. The resulting effect is an improvement in the institutional image of the police force and an increase in the safety margin for officers during the execution of their duties within the framework of the police service.
