Instrument for obtaining information on the admission of illegal drug use in the polygraph examination
Synopsis
The objective of this research is to design an instrument for the collection of information in the interview phase in cases of admission of illegal drug use during the polygraph examination. The research employs a mixed methodology in two phases: the first one is oriented to the collection of information through a survey to polygraphists of the Police Intelligence Directorate of the National Police of Colombia; and the second one, to select pertinent questions by means of the frequency of answers. The research is propositional in scope and takes as its population of interest the 85 polygraphists of the National Police of Colombia, with a sample of sixteen professionals. The results highlight the importance of considering the social environment of the uniformed officers in the design of the instrument, and also suggest that these should address individual aspects and social contexts in order to contextualize the problem of drug use among uniformed officers. The proposed instrument addresses these thematic factors and the questions required to collect information during the polygraph examination in cases of admission of illegal drug use. In this way, it contributes to the strengthening of decision-making and the effectiveness of personnel selection processes in the Colombian National Police.
