Manifestations of violence in social protests in Bogotá D. C. reading from coexistence

For the National Police it is of interest to analyze the transformations that are being forged in the social protest; For this reason, this research aims to propose an institutional action in response to the new manifestations of the phenomenon of vandalism, established in the penal code, as damage to another's property, during social protests, by evaluating the impacts on citizen coexistence. and the identification of new challenges in the police activity and service, to strengthen institutional capacities. The method used was qualitative-descriptive. The findings of the investigation are related to the hybrid and complex nature of vandalism, its diverse causes that encompass elements of international influence, evidenced in some of the recent arrests and other investigations, social conflicts, polarization and the use of made by radical anarchist groups. Likewise, a characterization of vandalism is carried out at the level of its structure, method, actors, interests and the negative impact on security and coexistence, which allows establishing as a conclusion that it is not a spontaneous phenomenon, but rather a collective behavior each increasingly organized and with an intention to generate chaos and fear. Finally, the challenges for the police institution and proposals to face scenarios of high social conflict and violence are presented.
