Synopsis

The content of this document presents the approach to the crime of theft against individuals in Barbosa, Santander, Colombia, based on the integration of information obtained through the application of instruments to the citizenry, the police, local authorities, and the in situ diagnosis of the crime. The goal is to generate a tool or pedagogical strategy aimed at significantly contributing to the prevention, reduction, and containment of the crime, which in recent years has become one of the behaviors that most affects the tranquility and security of the Barboseña community. This study investigates, aiming to show in the short term a significant decrease in the statistical figures related to this crime, as well as to impact those social, cultural, and educational causes that have been influencing not only the occurrence of theft against individuals but also the absence of effective tools and/or strategies for its disruption.

Therefore, this study seeks to generate tools that allow for the reduction of the causes driving the crime of theft against individuals, through understanding the underlying factors that fuel this issue. This is achieved by directly obtaining information from the public, government entities, and professionals of the National Police of Colombia, representing an invaluable resource for identifying patterns, specific situations, and problems that contribute to the increase in crime.

In this regard, implementing an effective pedagogical approach that efficiently disseminates information about personal security measures, community training in neighborhood watch programs, promotion of accessible and confidential reporting channels, and raising awareness about the adverse effects of harm to individuals within the community, contributes to creating a culture based on respect, strengthening the norms and customs of the local culture, and calling for civic responsibility among the inhabitants of the municipality under study.
