Correlation of Homicide Modalities with Impactful Crimes in Atypical Quadrants of the National Police of Colombia
Synopsis
Due to the territorial and cultural diversity in Colombia, criminal behavior varies significantly depending on the geographical context in which it occurs. This requires public entities responsible for guaranteeing the rights and freedoms of citizens to implement differentiated and focused strategies adapted to the specific circumstances in which crimes, including homicide, may be correlated
with other crimes.
The objective of this chapter is to identify the levels of criminal correlation observed throughout Colombian territory. To achieve this, approaches such as the identification of spatial interactions, the formulation of problem trees, and the implementation of Spearman correlations are used. These methodsallow establishing which criminal behaviors are related to the occurrence of
homicides and other crimes.
In conclusion, it is highlighted that criminal activity exhibits varying degrees of correlation depending on the geographical location in which crimes occur.
