Synopsis

This research aims to evaluate and improve practices for the selection of company and section commanders within the teaching-learning process in the Technical Professional Program in Police Service. Additionally, it seeks to implement an evaluation tool that strengthens the competencies of being, knowing, knowing how, and knowing how to coexist for commanders. The goal is to guide and train them to perform their function effectively and efficiently.

In this regard, the focus was on the mixed method, using both quantitative and qualitative approaches within the framework of a comprehensive interpretative paradigm. The aim was to determine reflective and descriptive findings through surveys and interviews conducted among a sample consisting of 390 students, 52 newly graduated patrol officers, and 39 police professionals affiliated with the Carabineros School in the Province of Vélez. Additionally, 170 professionals affiliated with various police training schools, holding positions such as company and section commanders, human resources managers, group commanders, and school directors, were also included in the study

In conclusion, the research successfully captured the institutional dynamics and the risks commanders face in their roles. They strive for excellence in their professional performance, ensuring job stability. However, there is a need to implement a strategy to support the proper selection of professionals who must assume the roles of company and section commanders.
