It corresponds to the Editorial Committee to evaluate the requests for publication of books, the justifications which are presented, in each session, by the Editor. The Editorial Committee, in the case of textbooks or  the result of an investigation, may suggest the peer reviewers, who may be nationals or foreigners. The evaluation is carried out using the double-blind system, and is carried out from the editorial manager.

Description

The Editorial of the National Directorate of Academies of the Colombian National Police has a policy of immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that offering the public free access helps a greater global exchange of knowledge. The editorial operating costs are borne exclusively by the National Police. Since 2009, research results books have been published in digital format. All books without exception go through the peer review process. The books that are published must contribute to the police service and can be written from different disciplines by national and international authors.

Evaluation stage

Evaluation stage At this stage, the books are submitted for evaluation by peers with a master's or doctorate, with experience in publications. Submissions and assignments are double blind, in order to achieve an objective evaluation. This evaluation takes an average of 30 days and is recorded in the established evaluation format.

Once this evaluation is delivered by the peers, the Editor submits it directly to the authors. Authors have 15 in calendar days to make adjustments. After this period, the authors send the editorial manager the new version. This version will be the one that enters the third phase; No new chapters or content will be accepted once the book is delivered for style review and layout.

Style review stage

At this stage the objective is to develop the text that will enter the graphic design stage. The Editor will follow up on the style revision, asking the authors for the clarifications, corrections and information required by the style editor. Authors will have 15 business days to respond to the style editor's comments and make adjustments. Unless the proofreader requests clarifications that require new content, additions of text or new chapters will not be accepted.

Digital editing stage

With the delivered document, the digital edition and layout will proceed. Once the digital edition process starts, no changes in content or editing format will be accepted. The layout of each book will be sent to the authors and they will have five (5) business days to approve the layout of the book. At the end of this stage, the ISBN and the DOI will be assigned.

The image of digital books is submitted to the indications of the Office of Strategic Communications of the General Directorate of the National Police.
