The role of cognitions in the assimilation of a traumatic event

The purpose of this paper is to present a theoretical framework both for researchers and people who
faced traumatic events. The focus proposed is an approach of the author’s experience in the fields of research, care provisions and literature review. The reference model is the cognitive psychology -the mental- giving relevance to the construction of meaning and significance that people provide to their experiences.
