Resumen

La insuficiencia pancreática exocrina es un síndrome caracterizado de maldigestión y malabsorción resultado de la falla de la secreción de las enzimas pancreáticas y otras sustancias que facilitan la absorción de los nutrientes dietéticos y de ciertas vitaminas y minerales, necesarias para la digestión normal de los alimentos. El objetivo del tratamiento es el reemplazo de las enzimas pancreáticas por extractos enzimá- ticos orales, cuando aparecen los signos clínicos, el cual consiste en administrar suplementos enzimáticos en todas las comidas. En los perros se ha conseguido la actividad enzimática más alta en el duodeno con suplementos sin recubrimiento entérico, entre ellos páncreas crudo cortado o enzimas pulverizadas.
